Section 8 is terrible, terrible, terrible policy. Unless there's been some new data I'm not aware of--section 8 vouchers perpetuate homelessness in practice. It's Reagan Housing. It's let's COMPLETELY abandon any of the hope of the earlier housing acts that Nixon destroyed..

And there's a reason that HONDA was passed quietly. There's countless "vacant" or last minute hotel permitted lots(with no intention of building a hotel) in the boroughs. Guarantee you if we count up all the affordable housing that'll come of HONDA, it'll be paltry..

WHY at the same time this "YIMBY" astroturfing is surging, "leftists" are taking up the YIMBY/NIMBY dynamic and advocating for historically racist housing policy? We can do better. It almost seems coordinated. Private/Public will never =social housing.

@ceaweaver It's time to bring this out into the light and discussed in public, because this policy stance is completely suspect and not supported by what is known. I wonder how many non-profit scammers are gathering clout by continuing to push toward Section 8 and private funds.
