      Something I am working thru: What if there was a way to massively overhaul section 8 so that it didn’t prop up the (broken) private market or erode tenants’ rights? Then it would just be cash for housing, which is basically an unequivocally good thing?

      Isn’t that kind of what the NYCHA blueprint for change is proposing. But instead of converting section 9 to section 8, you’d create a new entity to rent exclusively to existing section 8?

      So convert all of NYCHA to section 8 and have a centralized authority that rents to NYCHA and all other voucher holders So a super-NYCHA. Though it would need the capital to either construct or take-over enough units for existing voucher holders. 🤔

      i'm not sure i totally follow. i'm not sure if i agree re: phrasing "converting NYCHA to section 8" but rather, allow NYCHA to get the resources that Section 8 currently only gives to private landlords.
