i don't think i even get what it means to decommodify housing. social housing is still a commodity, the government just subsidizes its construction and/or your income to pay rent. housing owned by a community land trust is still a commodity, just not a profitable or liquid one.

yes. if you try to ascribe a set of coherent values to a phrase that is used as a rhetorical slogan by people with widely different ideologies and policy prescriptions, you are by definition ending up in a semantic debate.
