Some of the things HJ4A fights for with little to no controversy are definitionally much larger giveaways to the real estate industry than any rezoning. I’m not necessarily 100% comfortable with this, which is why I like to talk about it!

I’m curious HJ4A would pivot from asking to build new housing as a priority (since we may not have the power to ensure this is done equitably) to taking advantage of the new HONDA law and converting large scale office and commercial space to housing. Just a thought

We’re not anywhere currently asking to build new housing as a priority so I’m not sure what that is referring to. We are fighting to use HONDA.

Our priorities are good cause eviction, the housing access voucher program, HONDA implementation, and TOPA. I suspect we will be spending a great deal of time around the eviction moratoria expiring, now January.

We have never once campaigned for new housing so there is no need to “pivot”

I think we should actually one day pivot to building new housing but we don’t have the 1) power 2) political coalition 3) consensus on what that looks like to make it happen so

Yeah but some of them (good cause) fundamentally transform property relations and some of them (HAVP) subsidize real estate and don’t do that. Idk, I think it’s fair to talk abt.
