My understanding of “affordable for whom” was that it was about clarifying that the “affordable housing” isn’t affordable & I think that’s a VERY important thing to stress for new development
well i think that if we want to expand public/social housing it needs to serve a bigger base of people than it currently does, so saying "affordable for whom" makes sense in the context of stopping a given particular development....1/
but could potentially undermine a perhaps longer term struggle FOR new social housing
If we are talking about actual social housing, then absolutely yes. But we are talking about for-profit mostly market rate development. Completely different animals.
