Yes. I've had arthritis in my feet for decades now. Custom orthotics and custom ankle length boots are the most expensive things I, as a poor tenant lawyer, own. Totally worth it: the only reason I can walk the city. DM if you need recommendations.

Worth it. I needed them after years of working barefoot on concrete. I also use them for running. I got not custom first and it didn’t help me. If you can afford to, yes.

That’s tough. I’d recommend that if you have a diagnosis and can find a way to finance them get the orthos. It’s a long term investment in your ability to run.

I'm torn. In principle yes, but I got custom orthotics and they hurt way more than the doctor said they would. I switched to pretty good non-custom ones, and I've been wearing them for a while. They're highly imperfect, but they're definitely something.

I would say trust the people who have way more experience with this sort of thing than I do. Also, my problem is over-pronating rather than arthritis, so my foot responses are likely different than yours.

Don't know your financial situation, but I saved up a couple years ago to get custom orthotics and I can feel my big toe again. You need to break them in gradually because they're very solid, not foamy like the store-bought ones. They should come with breaking-in instructions

And by "saved up" I mean I got fitted, ordered them, and then dodged the podiatrist's calls for a year because I couldn't pay yet. Gts!
