Contentious thing I am afraid to say aloud: although I’m probably going to rank morales first and think her campaign is a force of good, at this particular juncture I might rather have as mayor a left-leaning technocrat who knows city govt well than a left-leaning activist type??

i think i agree; we (the left) really need to think about governance (getting our people into the bureaucracy and learning how to do that!) and not just legislative victories cc @MitchellLlama @lpafridi

Yeah there seems like a widening gulf between progressive legislation that we’ve passed on paper and actually effective implementation of that. And having someone who espouses our values in executive role, given constraints, is not always the best thing for socialist movement?

This is also bc people don't always understand that there are camps within an administration just as there are outside of it, and that you ideally have to win over a set of ppl who would implement your legislation before it gets passed.
