I'm not sympathetic to small landlords. Being one means you have serious equity. Renters don't.

Like, this goes two ways: 1) You own the property, you have extra capacity for debt, you have resources to tap before you cry equal poverty with renters 2) You are overleveraged & in danger of losing the business, which means you gambled (with people's lives!) and lost.

Like, IDK. No one would consider it a travesty if someone who was down $2k at blackjack was forced to leave the casino as it was closed for social distancing / pause orders. Why is it a travesty if a property manager goes from "almost broke" to "can't make ends meet"?
