When NYCHA decides to put developments through RAD, it is older developments—like some of the *25 developments* in my BK district—that are on the chopping block. Many of these residents want this path instead. They deserve to be empowered to choose it even if you don’t like it.https://twitter.com/juliacarmel__/status/1530697007920291841 …

The way “empowered to choose” is used here reminds me of Obamacare, where people have their choice of some not-so-great options. If most NYCHA residents supported RAD, would you fight for that? Or would you fight for a meaningful socialist alternative?

In fact, most NYCHA tenants *do* favor RAD.pic.twitter.com/GX3rLZwZPo

I, of course, do not—I favor the public trust, along with some other tenants and tenant leaders.

As I think you know (I've seen your slack conversations this morning), I believe these data actually support my position that we need a meaningful socialist program to fight for here - the risk of privatization is not going anywhere.

Jack, I disagree that the trust is privatization but if ur arguing residents should be denied the opportunity to opt into it in favor of a meaningful socialist alternative, I think it's fair to ask for some real details on what that alternative is and how we can win it very soon.

That is not actually what I’m saying. Even if the trust isnt priv and better than what we have, it doesn’t mean a DSA elected should be lead sponsor. That’s a strategic mistake. I hope we can all develop it together - our organization passed a resolution calling on us to do so!

Seems an inherent flaw / critique of the SIO project period, not really the PT. Ultimately the elex we elect have to vote on stuff that ≠ socialism. Hard to represent 1000s NYCHA & not take a stance on public option for urgent repairs while we devise for a more socialist vision.
