Had a nice chat with Peter Marcuse last night, and he posed an interesting question: why do Americans support Medicaid but don’t currently appear to have a strong desire for something like “Housingaid”?

Also - and I'm sorry to say this - I see few signs of local housing campaigns getting behind the $327bn earmarked for housing.
I think we have basically over-localized the issue - “community control”, zoning fights, etc

Again, sorry to say this (feels presumptuous), but I agree. Think I understand some of the reasons for that. But the big picture is still the Big Picture. I'm beginning to really worry that a once-in-a-generation chance to shift US housing policy is going to be missed.
