protests work when they - public enough to effectively shape the opinion of the mass electorate - they demonstrate enough literal constituent energy for the rep to feel accountable absent a revolution they are staged concessions to an electoral strategy (i love to protest)https://twitter.com/sylvia_nyc/status/1444841147147370500 …

This is protest as a policy-winning tactic though, right, not as a tool in an organizing strategy to get to a mass revolution. Like I don't think the Bolsheviks were engaged in staged concessions to electoralism b/ Feb and Oct 1917!

Like at some point everyone has to decide of they're trying to build towards better policy outcomes in the current order or something more and shape their one, two, five year strategy plan accordingly, right?

And then the form and function and all other facets of planning protests along the way will be shaped by that trajectory.

Right. And this limits the efficacy of the conventional protest around issues that affect people the current order is not accountable to (eg. most of the world, people stripped of rights, people too vulnerable to be able to access their rights without community support etc.)

So the same strategy / tactic that can work to win, say, a project labor agreement on a wind energy project in NYS has to be reshaped to win inclusion of undocumented people in ubi proposals, much less Haitian refugee access or abolition of borders.
