A THREAD ~ Misogynistic microagressions in workspaces are so pervasive and toxic. One occurred this week that I’ve tried to brush off but it’s just sitting with me so I’m releasing it. 1/8

I was in a meeting where we were discussing saving $ vs spending $ during quarantine. I said as a single mother that I’m spending more because I spend so many hrs a day on Zooms and home-schooling that I don’t have much time to grocery shop/cook so I’m getting more delivery 2/8

A man piped in to say I could actually cook while on Zoom, and in fact pointed out that “Example female” did it all the time. Excuse me sir......... 3/8

First, ask yourself, would you tell a dad who was a single parent, home schooled his children, and worked 60-70 hrs a week that he could also cook if he multitasked a little better? Highly doubtful. Most likely, society would label him a hero. 4/8

Second, put aside the fact that “Example female” doesn’t have children, don’t pit us women against each other like that! In fact, she interjected to defend me, because we women are sick of being put in the position of having to compete with each other by men. Just stop. 5/8

Gentlemen, just think before you speak. You don’t need to mansplain everything to us. You don’t know the answer to everything. You’re not helpful, you’re condescending 99% of the time. If we want your opinion, we’ll ask. 6/8

NOTE- Have said a thousand times and will say again that folks who have to deal with the multiple intersectionalities of oppression are truly the most abused humans on the planet. I’m a queer woman, but my cis whiteness protects me from the racist, transphobic abuse. 7/8
