New York’s rent laws protect tenants from excessive rent hikes and stabilize whole communities. Rather than back away, policy makers should expand them. google.com/amp/s/thehill.

Shout out to for calling out the BS. Let's get good cause done THIS YEAR!

Good Cause Eviction is good economics, good politics, and good morals. Almost every strong critique against it is a lie. The State must pass this critical measure immediately to combat the housing crisis and to save lives. @housing4allNY

Sources tell me that both one houses likely to include commitments to protect tenants from "unconscionable rent increases." That language is central to good cause eviction legislation. They may lack specifics, but the one house resolutions are first and foremost value statements

.@GovKathyHochul claims she’s shutting down Albany tomorrow because of the snow….but we know it’s because over 1500 tenants and homeless NYers were on their way. Join us tomorrow for an emergency NYC rally and phone bank marathon! RSVP: hj4a.org/HochulRally

New op-ed from Albany Common Council member ! Alfredo is a small landlord in Albany who understands the importance of community stability. That’s why he supports statewide good cause and tenant protections.

It’s not just tenants who support #GoodCause, landlords do too. Two op-eds today make the case: #GoodCause is good for landlords -- one from a current landlord, one from someone raised by small landlords. timesunion.com/opinion/articl

Literally these three bills would wipe out every eviction case I am currently litigating. Every single one of my clients would stay in their homes. I and about a thousand other housing attorneys would have a manageable job, and NYC would have a manageable shelter census.

As a non-Right-to-Counsel attorney being sucked into the universal access world (long story) I cannot underscore enough how STRAINED our housing court system is right now. The vast majority of these cases are nonpayment cases, the next biggest bucket is no-cause holdovers...

I love Albany as a city and I think it would be a nice place to live but also to the people who are staying in hotels here who ARE NOT here for the state budget … why?
